A short history of the Museum

The history of this museum goes back several years. The investigator called Ms. Coste, a passionate and antique dealer who spent his time collecting tools on the civilization of the chestnut. It gathered his collection pieces in his shop. In 1981, the municipality of Joyeuse helped by the Council General bought his entire collection.
To highlight this heritage, Ms. Evelyne Zminka, President of the association of the free time organized a temporary exhibition. As the exhibition had great success, we decided to create a museum with collected coins. The management of the Museum was then taken into hand by the community of communes of the country of Beaume Drobie.

The Museum consists of 4 rooms which have in total over 500 items, old tools and unique furniture. It is installed in the former the Oratorian college dating back to the 17th century in the heart of the city of Joyeuse.
